| C++/Visual C++ Programming |
| | The development environment that we use is the Microsoft
Developer Studio which includes the Visual C++ application. Within the Visual C++
framework we have experience using the Microsoft Foundation Classes (MFC) as well as
COM, Active X, ISAPI DLL, and the various software development kits (SDK) that make
up the complete Win32 APIs. For installation support we use either the Microsoft
Installer development kit or the InstallShield installer program. The types of
applications developed in this environment include database interface programs
for ODBC and DAO, scientific applications such as geodetic calculations and
numeric calculations, an OpenGL application, ISAPI Extensions and Filters for
the Microsoft IIS, and various utility programs. |

| Web Site Development |
| | We take advantage of the technologies available for web sites
such as Visual Interdev, HTML, DHTML, Active Server Pages, javascript, applets,
remote scripting, and XML to make web sites more interactive and dynamic.
This is in contrast to more static pages with respect to the client browser. The
result is to distribute the computational workload to the client which frees more
server resources thereby allowing the server to handle a larger number of
browser requests. We use Visual Interdev for web site development and target javascript
and scriptlets in the active server pages, HTML and DHTML with javascript on the
clients browser. |

| Java Programming |
| | Java is used for developing applets used on our web sites.
Various applets have been developed that make a site more interactive and include menuing
systems, scrolling headlines, image panning, and environment information applets. We use the
Microsoft Visual J++ for this development as well as the various Sun Java SDKs. For DHTML
and Active Server Pages we use javascript and scriptlets. Javascript closely resembles java
and provides a programming consistency within this environment. |

| ACCESS/SQL Database Programming |
| | Low volume webs that require a database can use the
Microsoft Access JET driver as opposed to the sometimes more expensive solution of SQL Server
especially when dealing with web hosting companies. Access database programming is a straight
forward development environment that can quickly be deployed to a web for testing or as a
precursor to migration to SQL Server. Other stand alone Access database designs that we
have done include a seminar registration application and a medical management filtering
application for processing patient procedure codes. |
